Lycamobile vs GoMo: international prepay versus Irish unlimited

Buy Lycamobile if you care about minutes to Asia, Nigeria, Türkiye or Eastern Europe. Buy GoMo if you want cheap Irish unlimited 5G — we score it 9.1 to Lycamobile’s 8.0. Both ride Eir’s masts since Lycamobile moved from Three in late 2025, so coverage is identical and the choice is purely the plan. Treating Lycamobile Unlimited Plus as a GoMo rival is how you end up on 256 kbps, and at €25 a cycle once the promo ends.

Our verdict: Lycamobile rides Eir. 28-day cycles, eSIM, country bundles, data-only from €4.99. Unlimited Plus and Go Unlimited are 100 GB then 256 kbps, not GoMo-style unlimited. GoMo is Eir’s own budget brand on the same radio. One plan, €12.99, unlimited 5G, eSIM, app only.

Same radio, different jobs. If you wanted Eir coverage and cheap Irish unlimited, that is GoMo, not Lycamobile’s “unlimited” teasers. If you wanted to ring Lagos or Manila more than you stream, Lycamobile. If Eir is the wrong radio at your address, neither: 48 is €12.99 on Three and Clear is €12.99 on Vodafone.

Both have eSIM. Both can keep your number. The rest of the comparison is whether your month looks like international calls or Irish data.

Price: 28-day bundles versus €12.99 forever

GoMo is €12.99 monthly with no listed jump, plus a €12.99 once-off activation fee: €168.87 in year one. Lycamobile’s cheap rows start at €4.99 data-only. Ireland Plus is €9 for six cycles. Unlimited Plus is €10 for six cycles then €25; Go Unlimited is €11 for 12 cycles then €20. National Unlimited is €12.99 plus a €12.99 activation fee, on 28-day cycles, so 13 a year.

A cheap Lycamobile voucher is not a cheaper GoMo. It is less Irish data, or a throttle, or minutes instead of data, or a promo that becomes €20 to €25 a cycle.

savings
Winner: GoMo for Irish unlimited. Lycamobile for a light data-only or a country bundle.

Network: the same Eir radio, so coverage is a draw

Lycamobile moved from Three to Eir in late 2025. GoMo is Eir’s own budget brand. Same masts, same 5G layer, same dead spots — indoor signal cannot pick this one, only the plan can.

Eir is retiring 3G from 1 October 2026, and that applies to Lycamobile and GoMo customers alike: an old 3G-only handset will stop working on either SIM. If Eir is the wrong radio at your address, neither SIM fixes it — look at 48 on Three or Clear on Vodafone.

lan
Winner: Draw — it is the same Eir radio. The plan decides it.

Data: real unlimited versus 100 GB then crawl

GoMo is unlimited 5G with fair-use. Lycamobile Unlimited Plus and Go Unlimited are 100 GB at 5G, then 256 kbps. National Unlimited is listed as unlimited on the same Eir radio, with an activation fee.

Data-only XS to L is 3 GB to 20 GB. That is a tablet SIM, not a GoMo replacement.

all_inclusive
Winner: GoMo for Irish data. Lycamobile if you meant minutes, or a tiny data-only SIM.

Contract: both easy to leave

GoMo is rolling monthly at a for-life price. Lycamobile is 28-day prepay, but Unlimited Plus and Go Unlimited carry a promo price that steps up to €25 and €20 after six and twelve cycles. Neither is a 12-month Elevate-style trap; one of them still has a thereafter.

Miss a Lycamobile top-up and the bundle ends. Miss nothing on GoMo and it keeps billing.

gavel
Winner: Draw on lock-in. Lycamobile if you want a hard stop when you stop topping up.

Roaming: both list EU, Lycamobile adds extra countries on some rows

GoMo lists 23 GB EU. Several Lycamobile plans include EU, Ukraine and Moldova on the note. Caps are still caps.

Neither is a travel-eSIM product. 48’s HelloGlobe is travel-only too, and 48 is not in this matchup.

travel
Winner: Depends on the Lycamobile row. GoMo is simpler if you only needed ordinary EU roaming on unlimited Irish use.

Who it's for: minutes home versus Irish data

Lycamobile is the international specialist. GoMo is the cheap Eir unlimited SIM. Same masts, so nobody should pick between them on coverage. If you landed here because both say unlimited, read the 100 GB throttle and pick again. They are different jobs.

Winner: Lycamobile for calls home, GoMo for Irish unlimited on Eir.

Which should you choose?

It comes down to cost profile, host network fit, and contract style. Use this fast decision frame.

Choose Lycamobile if

You buy a SIM for international minutes and 28-day control. Country bundles matter more than a €12.99 Irish unlimited plan. You accept Eir radio and, on the "unlimited" teasers, a 256 kbps cliff after 100 GB.

Choose GoMo if

You want unlimited 5G in Ireland at €12.99 on Eir radio, for-life pitch, app-only support. International calling is not why you are shopping.

Lycamobile vs GoMo: frequently asked questions

Is Lycamobile cheaper than GoMo?+

Some Lycamobile bundles cost less per 28 days during the promo. They are not the same product. GoMo is €12.99 unlimited 5G on Eir with a €12.99 activation fee. Lycamobile Unlimited Plus is €10 for six cycles then €25, and throttles after 100 GB.

Are they on the same network?+

Yes, since late 2025. Lycamobile moved from Three to Eir, and GoMo is Eir’s own budget brand, so both SIMs use the same Eir masts and coverage is identical. Eir’s 3G switch-off from 1 October 2026 applies to both.

Which has eSIM?+

Both, on the plans we list.

I want cheap unlimited on Eir. Is that Lycamobile?+

No. That is GoMo at €12.99 on the same masts, with a proper unlimited allowance and no promo clock. Lycamobile’s Unlimited Plus and Go Unlimited throttle after 100 GB and step up to €25 and €20. If you are choosing radios rather than brands, see GoMo vs 48.

Does GoMo have international bundles?+

No. One Irish unlimited plan. Lycamobile is the country-bundle brand.

How do I switch?+

How to switch mobile. Keep the old SIM live until the new one works.
