Roaming value in Ireland is about usable allowances, not marketing slogans. In August 2026, the best blend of cost and EU allowance comes from the cheap unlimited trio and selected 12-month plans with bigger caps.
Clear and GoMo both give 23 GB EU roaming at €12.99. 48 gives 20 GB at the same price. Sky’s €12.99 unlimited has free EU/UK roaming with no stated cap, and Virgin pushes to 37 GB, but both tie you to a 12-month contract. The rules behind those caps: EU roaming from Ireland.
Best roaming value under €15
At sub-€15 pricing, Clear and GoMo are strong because they combine unlimited 5G with 23 GB EU roaming. 48 is close behind at 20 GB. All three are rolling monthly, which is unusual value. Sky’s unlimited is also €12.99 with free EU/UK roaming and 5G on Vodafone, but on a 12-month term.
Lycamobile can include EU roaming on multiple bundles, but plan structures vary a lot. It is better for international call patterns than for clean, one-plan roaming value.
Higher roaming allowances
Virgin is notable at 37 GB EU/UK roaming for €15 for life, but with a 12-month term and 4G only on Three radio. Eir Connect and Complete are higher again at 65 GB and 75 GB, though their thereafter prices are much higher than budget MVNO options.
Vodafone Ultra is the premium outlier with 80 GB EU roaming and international call extras at €35. It is useful for specific travel-heavy users, not a mass-market value pick.
Plans with roaming caveats
Roaming notes matter. Tesco frequently lists fair-use style decimal allowances, and some discounted prices depend on Clubcard behavior. Lycamobile unlimited plans can switch to 256 kbps after 100 GB total usage.
An Post gives 25 GB EU/UK roaming plus 250 minutes and texts on all three prepay plans, on Vodafone radio, but remains 4G only, so travel speed expectations need to be realistic.
How we rank roaming plans
Roaming ranking weighs allowance size, plan price, and contract risk together. A huge roaming number can still lose if the home plan is overpriced after intro. That is why we keep intro and thereafter side by side.
