The best unlimited mobile plans in Ireland are not all equal, even when the headline says "unlimited". The top value tier is €12.99 on 48, Clear Mobile, and GoMo. After that, you are mostly paying for contract shape, roaming allowance, or support style.
Unlimited can still have fair-use controls. Lycamobile Unlimited Plus and Go Unlimited run at full speed for 100 GB, then continue at 256 kbps. That is not the same product as 48, Clear, or GoMo unlimited.

The €12.99 unlimited 5G baseline
Ireland has a clean baseline for unlimited 5G in August 2026. 48, Clear, and GoMo all sit at €12.99. The difference is host network and support model, not the monthly number.

That gives you one cheap unlimited option on each major Irish radio network. It is hard to beat for value. One wrinkle: Clear and GoMo both charge a €12.99 activation fee up front. Clear’s free first month cancels it, so 48 and Clear both come to €155.88 in year one; GoMo has no free month, so it is €168.87. Sky also sells unlimited 5G at €12.99 on Vodafone radio, with eSIM and free EU/UK roaming, but on a 12-month term.
When to pay €15 instead
Paying €15 can still make sense in two cases. Virgin gives €15 for life with 37 GB EU/UK roaming and up to six SIMs, but it is a 12-month term and 4G only on Three radio, where 48 sells unlimited 5G for €12.99 on the same masts with no contract. Vodafone Red Unlimited 15 gives own-network 5G and eSIM at €15, and it is the Vodafone plan we recommend over the dearer ladder, though bill-pay SIM-only rises by a fixed €2.50 a month each April inside the 12-month term.
Do not drift into Vodafone Red Lite at €30 if Red Unlimited 15 is available. It is worse value for most households.
Unlimited plans that are not truly unlimited
Lycamobile Unlimited Plus and Go Unlimited are priced aggressively, but they include a speed condition: 100 GB at 5G speed, then unlimited data at 256 kbps. For messaging and light browsing that may be fine. For tethering or heavy video use, it is restrictive.
An Post has an unlimited prepay option at €18 on Vodafone radio, but it is 4G only. If 5G matters, Clear is €12.99 with 5G on the same radio.
