Who it’s for
Yuno suits the switcher who treats energy like a contract, not a relationship: you sign for 12 months, you pay the lowest published rates in the market through the app, you set a reminder, and you decide again at month 12 — leaving on time, with 30 days notice, so the €100-per-fuel fee never touches you. You need a smart meter (or willingness to take one), a phone you actually use, and no attachment to paper bills. If that describes you, the savings are real. If you want a supplier you never think about, the incumbents charge you for the privilege — but they will not fine you €200 for wandering off.
Get it if
- You want the lowest published year-1 bill in the market and will actually switch again (or renegotiate) at month 12.
- You run your life from your phone — app-only billing, daily predicted-bill updates and a chosen billing date sound like features, not conditions.

What they sell
Electricity. The Variable Discount Plan is the headline act: 34.85c/kWh urban inc VAT for a published EAB of €1,702 (€1,763 rural), against €1,942 on the Standard Plan you inherit in year 2. A Smart Discount time-of-use version prints €1,618 urban — with a 40.76c peak rate from 5pm to 7pm that evening-heavy households should price honestly. Both discount plans require a smart meter and half-hourly data, and industry rules make that move one-way.
Gas. Yuno added gas in late 2024 and prices it aggressively: 9.49c/kWh inc VAT and a €150.03 annual standing charge for a published EAB of €1,332 at 11,000 kWh. The Standard Gas Plan behind it is 11.72c/kWh — €1,577 a year. Gas needs a credit meter; Yuno gas is not available on a Gas Networks Ireland pay-as-you-go meter, which is mildly ironic for a PrepayPower sibling.
Dual fuel. The dual-fuel card is where the famous numbers live: 30.81c/kWh electricity and 8.22c/kWh gas, whose printed per-fuel EABs sum to about €2,746 a year urban. Remember the exit fee is per fuel — leave dual fuel early and you are exposed to €200, and each fuel needs its own 30 days notice.
Dynamic. The Standard Dynamic Plan is a genuine differentiator: a half-hourly unit rate that tracks the day-ahead wholesale market, published in advance, capped at 50c/kWh as a consumer protection, over a base structure and a €397.39 annual urban standing charge. There is no EAB because nobody knows what wholesale will do. It rewards households that can shift load — EV charging at 3am — and punishes ones that cannot.
Our verdict
Start with what the headlines say, because they are not wrong. When Yuno launched in August 2023 — RTÉ reported it as the first new supplier in over three years — it claimed the cheapest rate in the market, and the claim has mostly held. Three years and four price cuts later, the rate cards we checked this week still print the lowest published EABs in Irish energy: €1,702 for urban 24h electricity, €1,332 for gas, roughly €2,746 for the two fuels on the dual card. If you shop on the year-1 number, Yuno wins. That is the whole pitch, and it is a good one.
Now walk the contract. You sign for 12 months. You pay variable rates — every asterisk on Yuno’s cards reads "pricing subject to change", and in July 2026 it did change, up 9.5% on electricity and 11% on gas, Yuno’s first rise since launch, worth about €168 and €156 a year respectively. You can leave inside 14 days free. After that, you can leave if you pay €100 per fuel — up to €200 on dual — and the fee also bites if you go without 30 days notice. You must take app-only billing; you must have or accept a smart meter for the discount electricity plans, and that conversion is one-way. None of this is hidden — it is all on the pricing page — but "cheapest" and "most binding" are both true at once, and only one of them makes the headline.
So the verdict is a conditional yes. We score Yuno 7.9: value is a 9 because nobody prints cheaper cards; flexibility is a 4.5 because the €100-per-fuel fee, the notice rule and the app-only mandate make this the most locked-in bill-pay contract of the nine we review; year 2 is a 6 because the Standard Plan adds roughly €240 to electricity and €245 to gas and can move again with notice. Service is better than a three-year-old supplier has any right to expect — Trustpilot around 4.3 from about 2,000 reviews — though customers report slow welcome-bonus credits and complaint follow-ups, and there is no long CRU complaints history to lean on.
